One hospitalized after U-turn crash in East Topeka
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - One person was taken to a local hospital after an early-morning crash on Thursday that occurred when a driver was attempting a U-turn on an East Topeka street, police said.
Emergency crews were sent at 7:13 a.m. to the crash, which occurred in the 1800 block of S.E. Hudson.
Police at the scene told 13 NEWS that a silver Chevrolet HHR that was facing north on S.E. Hudson was attempting to make a U-turn from its parked position when it was struck on its driver’s side by a dark-colored Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup truck that was traveling north on Hudson.
Both vehicles came to rest facing north in the southbound lane of S.E. Hudson.
Police said the driver of the HHR was taken to a Topeka hospital by American Medical Response ambulance for treatment of injuries that weren’t believed to be serious. Three passengers in the HHR were reported uninjured.
Both occupants of the Chevrolet pickup truck also were reported uninjured.
