TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A teen was in critical condition Tuesday morning at a local hospital after he was shot Monday night in East Topeka, authorities said.

The shooting was reported around 8:45 p.m. Monday in the 900 block of S.E. 8th Ave.

Topeka police officials said officers responding to the scene found a 17-year-old boy suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Police spokeswoman Gretchen Spiker said mid-morning Tuesday that the victim was transported to a local hospital and at last update remained in critical condition.

Spiker added that “involved parties have been uncooperative with investigators,” who are working to determine where the shooting occurred.
