Fiery crash slows traffic early Friday on US-75 north of Topeka
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Crews were responding to a report of a single-vehicle, fiery crash early Friday on US-75 highway just north of Topeka.
No serious injuries were reported in the crash, which was reported around 5:15 a.m. on northbound US-75 highway near N.W. 35th Street.
Shawnee County sheriff’s officials at the scene told 13 NEWS that a white pickup truck was headed north on US-75 when it went off the left side of the roadway and struck a guardrail in the center median.
The truck then caught fire as it faced west in the center median, just south of a bridge over N.W. 35th.
Soldier Township Fire Department crews responded to the scene and extinguished the blaze.
Northbound traffic on US-75 was being diverted at the N.W. 35th Street exit as crews cleared the scene. The roadway was reopened around 7:15 a.m.
Meanwhile, southbound traffic on US-75 was allowed to proceed through the area.
