St. Marys teen killed Wednesday in Pottawatomie County crash
BELVUE, Kan. (WIBW) - A 19-year-old man was killed in an early-morning crash on US-24 Highway in Pottawatomie County.
The fatality victim was identified as Phillip Harrison, of St. Marys.
The crash was reported at 6:27 a.m. near US-24 and Camp Creek Road, just west of Belvue.
According to Kansas Highway Patrol, a Toyota Camry was heading westbound on Highway 24 and dropped its passenger-side tires off the roadway and overcorrected, sliding sideways into the eastbound lane, where it was struck by a pickup truck.
Harrison, who was driving the Camry, was transported to Wamego Health Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the truck, 31-year-old Michael Weisbender, of Saint George, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The patrol said both men were alone in their vehicles and were wearing their seatbelts.
US-24 was blocked for several hours between the city of Belvue on the east and Onaga Road on the west while crews responded to the scene.
