TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Topeka Police Department said Sunday that two teens were injured in separate shootings over the weekend.

The first shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. in the 700 block of SE Hackberry.

Officers responded and found a 15-year-old boy with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to the arm.

TPD said the teen refused a report and would not cooperate with the investigation.

The second shooting was reported around 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the 1700 block of SE 31st.

Officers found a 13-year-old girl with a life-threatening gunshot wound. Police said it is being investigated as a possible accidental shooting.

The investigation is ongoing in both shootings, but TPD confirmed they are not connected.
