One life-flighted after cross-over crash Friday morning in Manhattan
MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) - One person was air-lifted to an area hospital following a cross-over crash early Friday in Manhattan, authorities said.
The crash was reported at 6:25 a.m. at Seth Child Road at the Anderson Avenue overpass., on the west side of Manhattan.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2006 Toyota Corolla was northbound on Seth Child Road when it crossed over the center line, hitting a southbound 2017 Dodge Durango sport utility vehicle.
The driver of the Corolla, Austin R. Gano, 23, of Manhattan, suffered serious injuries in the crash and was air-lifted to the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. The patrol said Gano was wearing his seat belt.
The driver of the Durango, Eric J. Parish, 40, of Manhattan, was reported uninjured. The patrol said Parish was wearing his seat belt.
Both drivers were alone in their vehicles, the patrol said.
Seth Child Road at the Anderson Avenue overpass was closed to traffic as of 6:55 a.m. Friday following the crash.
Both lanes of Seth Child Road were reopened as of 9:05 a.m. Friday, according to the Riley County Police Department.
